HTML weight

One check, stated three ways: what we measure, what would make it wrong, and how to confirm it yourself.

What this measures

Bytes of HTML returned for this one URL.

Where this check can be wrong

A large HTML file is often the *cheap* option — it means content arrived without a JavaScript round trip. We cannot see CSS, fonts or images from here, so this number alone predicts nothing about how fast the page feels.

Verify it without taking our word for it

curl -sI https://your.site | grep -i content-length, then open DevTools Network and look at the total for a real load.
