og:description
One check, stated three ways: what we measure, what would make it wrong, and how to confirm it yourself.
What this measures
The presence of the og:description property and whether it carries any real text. It never borrows the value from <meta name="description">, because the two tags are read by different audiences.
Where this check can be wrong
Several surfaces ignore it and pull the meta description instead, so a missing og:description sometimes costs nothing visible.
Verify it without taking our word for it
Grep the raw HTML, then check the preview with the platform's own debugger rather than a screenshot of a chat.
