Short answer
What you need to know before submitting
BetaList's current FAQ says all startup submissions require payment; there is no free submission option. Pricing and timeline are shown after the form. If BetaList's editors do not select a paid submission, the site says the charge is refunded automatically.
Important limitation
BetaList is not a place for any random website. It requires a technology startup, an original product-facing landing page on your own domain and a way for visitors to sign up or access the product. Editorial inclusion is not guaranteed.
Best for: Early-stage technology startups new to BetaList's audience. User intent: Submission price / refund / approval.
Step-by-step
Get your BetaList submission right
Check eligibility before opening checkout
Read BetaList's criteria: new to its audience, technology startup, not already featured for the same launch, a distinct landing page and a working signup or access action.
Prepare the single-sentence pitch and visual proof
Use the real product name (not a string of keywords), a plain explanation of what it does and a branded landing page. Make the signup or waiting-list path clear and test it without logging in.
Submit with an authorized founder account
Open BetaList's official startup submission. Its page takes a website URL and email and may offer account sign-in options. It also permits an agent-assisted draft, but the founder must review, claim and pay before publication.
Review the paid plan and actual price before paying
The form displays the currently available plans, timing and any newsletter inclusion. We do not publish a fixed price because the current FAQ directs users to the checkout plan chooser.
Follow the editorial decision
BetaList says it sends a decision by email; the dashboard also shows submission state. If not selected, it says a full refund is processed automatically. If selected, keep the public listing URL and measure actual referred users.
Avoidable mistakes
What usually goes wrong
Following an old “free BetaList submission” tutorial
BetaList's official 2026 FAQ now states there is no free submission route.
Do this instead: Use the current official submission page and check paid plans; don't assume an old free button exists.
Submitting a generic landing-page template
BetaList's criteria ask for a distinct product page and reject low-effort generic or free-subdomain entries.
Do this instead: Use your own custom domain with specific screenshots, product identity and a useful signup CTA.
Paying before proving product fit
A rejected startup may receive its money back, but no feature or traffic is guaranteed.
Do this instead: Check the editorial criteria before paying and keep the terms/confirmation for your records.
Will BetaList accept an app that is not fully launched?
Unlike some directories that reject waiting-list pages, BetaList explicitly permits genuine pre-launch startups and private/public betas. What matters is that the technology startup is new to its audience and gives an interested visitor a way to join a list or access the product. An empty marketing page without a usable action is still a bad fit.
BetaList states that a startup can have up to two distinct feature moments: pre-launch and full launch, separated by time and a genuine difference. That is not permission to resubmit the identical project repeatedly or manipulate review. Note the original feature date in your tracker.
Why the difference between 'submitted' and 'featured' matters
The fee covers a chance at editorial review and inclusion under the chosen plan, not an unconditional placement. BetaList's public help explains that unsuccessful submissions are refunded; accepted submissions are featured according to the plan. Verify the actual state with the platform rather than treating a paid receipt as a published backlink.
If you need immediate, entirely free exposure, look for a launch community that still accepts free projects rather than trying to evade BetaList's checkout. A curated directory and a founder community serve different audiences; evaluate the match and effort instead of comparing only Domain Rating.
Do not lose your submission
Keep proof of the attempt and the result
Before you leave, save BetaList, your product URL, the submitted date, receipt, current status and any owner-only action. Only set the status to live after a signed-out visitor can open the final public listing URL.

Founder questions
BetaList submission FAQ
Can I submit to BetaList for free in 2026?
No. The official BetaList Help page says all submissions are paid and prices are displayed at the end of the current submission form.
Does BetaList refund rejected submissions?
Its official policy says a startup that is not selected receives a full refund automatically. Confirm the terms for the plan you choose.
Does a BetaList submission need a launched SaaS?
Not necessarily. BetaList accepts genuine pre-launch waitlists and betas if the product is new to its audience, meets its technology-startup criteria and offers a clear signup/access path.
Can I submit with a vercel.app URL?
BetaList says free hosting subdomains are not accepted. It requires a distinct landing page using a domain you control.
